Your team has goals they want to achieve, and one way to hit those goals is to assign them content to work on- this gives them a clear expectation of the content they should be engaged with.
Access Level: To do this, you'll need Admin or Manager Access
NB: Content Assignees should be a part of your DevPath instance before following these steps.
Assigning Public Content
First, head to the Dashboard, and click Explore:
Now that you’re at the content search area, you can search for content in 2 places:
- General Course/Path Search (Blue)
- Global Content Search (Green)
When you decide the content you’d like to assign, you can click into that course or path.
(For the purposes of this article, we’ll use: Become an Effective Software Engineering Manager)
Once we’re in the course, we can click assign:
And we’ll be brought to this form:
- Assign To The members of your team you are assigning this content to are entered here.
NB: Normally, assignees should be a part of your DevPath instance before following these steps,
but you can add them when assigning as well!
- Select Content If you need to add more content, you can search for or paste a link to assign additional content. If left blank, this will only assign the current course.
- Due Date While assigning this to your team, you can add a due date for the course(s) you’re assigning.
If you’ve added additional courses, this will apply that same due date to each added.
- Content List (Scroll to See More if you’ve added additiona courses/paths) This is your double check of all you’re assigning to the members you’ve entered above.
Once your click Assign, your team will see an email that looks like this:
Wondering if you’ve already assigned a course or if another manager has?
The form will let you know:
Assigning Private Content
(to Assign Public Content, click here)
Assigning an Onboarding Path
Assigning a Skill Path
“Private Content” is content that is built by you or your team, for you and your team. It is not visible to the public, so only your team can see and learn from it.
First, head to the Dashboard, and Choose Onboarding Paths or Skill Paths:
Assigning An Onboarding Path
Once you’ve clicked Onboarding Paths, you’ll head here, and you can click on Published and then click the Onboard Members button:
This will bring you here, where you can assign to members of your team, and because this is an Onboarding Path, your team members should have a mentor in the process :
Once assigned, your team members will receive an email like the one mentioned above.
Assigning A Skill Path
Once you’ve clicked Skill Paths, you’ll head here, and you can click on Your Company’s Paths:
That will take you here:
When you click into the Path, you’ll see something like what you saw above for assigning a public course:
When you click Assign This Skill Path, you’ll see a form that looks like the same as above.
Learners will receive an email like the one above.
